Castello di Querceto is a historic, family-owned estate in Greve in Chianti, managed by the François family since 1897 and now run by its fifth generation. One of the 33 founding families of the Chianti Classico Consorzio, it farms 60 hectares across 26 vineyards at 350–520 metres, with Sangiovese predominant alongside traditional and international varieties. The estate produces Chianti Classico, single-vineyard crus, Gran Selezione, Vin Santo and IGT wines. Winemaking combines modern, computer-monitored fermentation and temperature-controlled stainless steel with maturation in historic underground cellars, using French oak barriques, tonneaux and larger casks. The winery has voluntarily joined the VIVA sustainability initiative and holds BRCGS food-safety certification, while also promoting the territory through hospitality, agriturismo and local associations.
