Founded in 1989 in South Africa’s Hemel-en-Aarde Valley as a partnership between Burgundian winemaker Paul Bouchard and local winemaker Peter Finlayson, Bouchard Finlayson remains a boutique producer owned by the Tollman family since 2000. The estate focuses on premium Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and the Hannibal red blend. Sustainability is central to its work: a 100-hectare fynbos conservancy protects part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, with more land under conservation than cultivation. Winemaking is led by Chris Albrecht, continuing the legacy established by the founders.
