Bolsignano

Italy

Bolsignano is a family-owned estate on Montalcino’s south-western slopes, at approximately 300 metres altitude, run by Roberto Rubegni since he inherited the farm in 2010. Rubegni serves as both farmer and winemaker, working around three hectares of Sangiovese within the wider estate. The vineyards receive organic treatments, although the estate has no formal sustainability certification. Production is highly limited, with approximately 5,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and 4,000 bottles of Rosso di Montalcino DOC annually, hand-bottled in small cases. Fermentation takes place in steel vats for about 20 days, followed by 36 months of oak ageing and four months in bottle.
