Spain

Aalto is a Ribera del Duero producer based in Quintanilla de Arriba, founded in 1999 by Mariano García Fernández and Javier Zaccagnini, and still run by the founding partners, later joined by the Masaveu and Nozaleda families. The estate is built around old-vine Tinto Fino from more than 200 plots across nine villages, with diverse soils and elevations that shape its blends. Viticulture is manual, low-yield and chemical-free, with no herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. In the cellar, Aalto uses a purpose-built gravity-flow winery and follows a minimal-intervention approach, fermenting and aging parcels separately to preserve terroir expression before blending. The house produces just two wines, Aalto and Aalto PS.
