2022 · Syrah

Yardstick is a privately run, boutique-style producer based in Stellenbosch in South Africa’s Western Cape, led by winemaker Adam Mason. The wines focus on site-specific expressions of classic varieties, drawing on vineyards including dry-farmed Syrah on ancient Blouklip river terraces, mature Pinot Noir on the foothills of Stellenbosch Mountain, and Chardonnay from Stellenbosch and experimental West Coast sites. Yardstick’s approach is deliberately simple and quality-focused, expressing and protecting each place of origin without unnecessary frills. Sustainable practices and ethical production, with respect for land and people, are central to the producer’s philosophy.
