Viñedos y Bodegas de la Marquesa is a family-owned estate in Rioja Alavesa, founded in the late 19th century by Francisco Javier Solano y Eulate. Today, fourth-generation Juan Pablo de Simón runs the winery with fifth-generation siblings Pablo, María and Jaime. The family farms vineyards in Villabuena, Baños de Ebro and Ábalos, including goblet-trained, 35-year-old vines at El Ribazo and the higher-altitude, sandy-soiled El Monte. Winemaking remains family-led, supported by a technical director, and continues the legacy of French winemaker Jean Pinaud. The estate holds ISO 9001:2008 certification and uses photovoltaic panels alongside ongoing reduction initiatives.
