The supplied notes describe Vega Sicilia, founded in 1864 by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves in Ribera del Duero, Valladolid, rather than Vega Riaza in Rioja. Owned by the Álvarez family since 1982, the estate operates within a parent company that also controls Oremus in Tokaj, Hungary. Its historic vineyards included Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, some of which remain in production. Bottles are distributed annually according to customer demand and available inventory.
