Terre d’Oltrepò is a major member-controlled wine organization in Lombardy’s Oltrepò Pavese, where it brings together around 500 winegrowers and focuses strongly on Pinot Noir. It is undergoing a five-year relaunch, transitioning from a traditional cooperative to a joint-stock company fully controlled by its members, with a stated aim of giving small winemakers greater representation. Its La Versa winery, founded in 1905 in Santa Maria della Versa, has produced Metodo Classico since 1930 and remains rooted in traditional bottle fermentation and extended lees ageing. La Versa’s style emphasizes Pinot Noir, elegance, balance and freshness, expressed through wines including the 1905 line and Testarossa. Its historic caveau continues procedures developed over more than a century, linking the group’s contemporary direction with Oltrepò Pavese’s long sparkling-wine tradition.
