Tenuta Montauto is a family-owned estate in Maremma, Tuscany, belonging to the Lepri family for more than 60 years. Riccardo Lepri, grandson of founder Enos Lepri, has managed the estate and made its wines since 2002. The vineyards lie on mineral-rich, quartz-streaked clay soils influenced by sea breezes near Capalbio, with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Farming follows ecological and organic methods, avoiding chemical herbicides and pesticides, with manual harvesting, selective work, ozone sanitation and renewable energy. The estate describes itself as artisanal, producing bright, clean, fresh and mineral wines with elegance, drinkability and ageing potential. Its Sauvignon Blanc reflects a pioneering choice for a traditionally red-wine area.
