Soumah is a family-owned winery in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, founded and directed by Brett Butcher, with chief winemaker Scott McCarthy shaping the wines. Focused on quality over quantity, Soumah produces limited-production, cool-climate wines with clear varietal character and savoury elegance. Its vineyards in the Yarra Valley benefit from elevated sites, ancient mountain-derived sandy clay loams, good drainage and cool nights, with vineyard management centred on health, balance and soil care. Alongside Yarra Valley staples such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Soumah is especially distinguished by its passion for northern Italian grape varieties and styles, reflecting its aim to build “a little bit of Italy” in the Yarra Valley.
