Monte Velho is produced at the family-owned Herdade do Esporão estate in Alentejo by the Esporão Group. Its vineyards have been organically certified by Kiwa Sativa since 2019, with practices including windbreak trees, bat habitats for pest control, sheep grazing, and composting winery and olive-grove waste. Winemaking is led by João, overseen by cellar supervisor Inácio, with Catarina coordinating grape supply. The estate’s broader activities include wine, beer, olive oil, and tourism.
