Monchiero is a family-owned estate based in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Piedmont’s Barolo zone, with vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, Alba and nearby communes. The family’s wine story began in the 1950s, and the current historic winery, dating to the 13th century, was acquired by brothers Remo and Maggiorino in 1982. Today, the third generation—Vittorio Monchiero and his sons Luca and Stefano—runs the estate, with Vittorio leading winemaking. Farming is described as sustainable and minimal-intervention, with hand-picked grapes, no irrigation, and treatments only when needed. In the cellar, tradition and innovation are combined, including large Slavonian oak for Barolo alongside stainless steel vats for younger wines. The vineyards were replanted from the 1990s onward using updated grafting and training techniques.
