Marco Abella is a family-run estate in Porrera, Priorat, with roots as viticulturists dating to the 15th century. The family returned to the area to recover old vineyards and establish a modern winery, founded by David Marco and Olivia Bayés. Their vineyards lie on high mountain sites with shallow llicorella slate soils, Mediterranean breezes and marked day-night temperature variation. Certified organic and practicing biodynamic viticulture, the estate works its own plots carefully and manually, combining traditional methods with modern facilities. Winemaking is led by David and Olivia with the assistance of Jean Hoefliger. The wines are described as fresh, fine, elegant, complex and gastronomic, expressing the altitude and distinctive character of Porrera.
