Australia

Kaesler is a Barossa Valley producer in South Australia with roots dating to 1893, when the Kaesler family planted the estate’s earliest vines. Today it is owned by Ed Peter and winemaker Reid Bosward, with the winery operated under Dural Wines Australia Pty Ltd. The estate is best known for old-vine Shiraz and Grenache, including vineyards planted in 1893 and 1899. Farming centres on regenerative practices, with hand pruning and picking, minimal irrigation, crop thinning, permanent pastures, compost and mulch use, and ongoing soil-health monitoring. Kaesler says this work is aimed at rebuilding soils and leaving its old vines in better condition, with soil organic carbon notably improved over time. Winemaking is led by Reid Bosward with senior winemaker Stephen Dew.
