Il Poggio is a family-run winery in Rovereto, Gavi, one of the historic cru areas of Piedmont, near the Ligurian border. Francesca Poggio leads the winemaking alongside her sister Alessandra and their family. The estate farms sustainably, avoiding herbicides and insecticides, maintaining natural grass cover, using organic fertilisation, solar power and rainwater collection, with conversion to organic farming planned. Its approach begins in the vineyard, with close attention to soil, grape variety, pruning, microclimate and exposure, while the cellar focuses on respect for the fruit and nature. The wines are presented as direct, sincere and genuine. Il Poggio also offers a wine resort, tastings and events in an intimate setting among the vineyards.
