Hasher Family Wines is a family-owned and operated estate founded in 2021 by Belgian couple Frederik and Céline Hasher in South Africa’s cool-climate Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The family focuses on small-batch, handcrafted wines, particularly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with minimal intervention and a strong emphasis on expressing terroir. Regenerative farming includes permanent cover crops, organic fertilisers, composting, innovative pruning and biodiversity-enhancing predator insects, while chemical fertilisers and herbicides have been phased out. The estate protects fynbos, wetlands and wildlife corridors through the WWF Conservation Champion programme, supporting 14 species of conservation concern. In the cellar, French oak from Burgundy is used for fermentation and maturation. Wines are described as elegant, authentic and shaped by the valley’s ecosystems and rhythms.
