TLZ Indigo No. 5

Franz Strohmeier is a family-owned estate in West Styria, Steiermark, run by Franz and Christine Strohmeier. Founded in 1998, the winery has farmed organically since the early 2000s and is biodynamically certified since 2003. Their vineyards on the south-eastern Alpine foothills are managed with no tillage, hand harvest, wild grasses and legumes between rows, and a strong focus on biodiversity, including tree planting and avoiding chemical treatments. In the cellar, Franz leads a low-intervention, natural approach, with minimal copper and sulfur use and no additives or sulfites. The wines reflect a thoughtful, artisanal philosophy grounded in careful farming and family involvement.
