Founded by the Jessiaume family in 1850, Domaine Jessiaume is based in Santenay in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, with parcels extending across Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Auxey-Duresses, Santenay and Chassey-le-Camp. The estate has been organic since 2016 and certified since 2019, with notes also describing biodynamic practices. Under current ownership since 2020, the domaine has focused increasingly on retaining and developing its own vineyard fruit. Winemaker William Waterkeyn leads a low-intervention approach: hand harvesting and sorting, natural yeasts, gentle extraction, gravity work, natural clarification and restrained sulphur use. Reds and whites are matured in oak before further time in stainless steel. The stated aim is to make elegant, fine wines that respect their individual terroirs, reflecting the domaine’s view of wine as a living matter shaped by grapes, yeast, skill and patience.
