Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona

Italy

Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona is a family-owned estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, gifted in 1985 by Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona to Giuseppe Bianchini and now run by siblings Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, with the next generation also involved. Based near Castelnuovo dell’Abate and the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, the estate is best known for Brunello di Montalcino, including wines from the historic single vineyard Pianrosso. The Bianchini family follows organic viticulture and is part of the EU Lotta Integrata movement, working with low yields, cover crops, manual vineyard work, no herbicides, and minimal sulfur and copper while pursuing full organic certification. Fermentations take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging in oak, combining a historic cellar with a modern underground winery.
