Château Maris

France

Château Maris is an organic and biodynamic estate in Minervois, at the foot of the Black Mountains in Languedoc. Owned and run by Robert Eden with business partner Kevin Parker, the domaine has pursued biodiversity-focused farming since the late 1990s, with Ecocert, Demeter, Biodyvin and B Corporation certification. Vineyard work includes hand harvesting and horse plowing, while winemaking relies on indigenous yeasts with unfined and unfiltered wines. The estate is especially noted for its environmental commitment, including a hemp-block cellar that needs no heating or cooling. It produces wines from Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, and has been recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the world’s most environmentally friendly wineries.
