Cantine Astroni

Italy

Cantine Astroni is a fourth-generation, family-owned winery founded by the Varchetta family in 1999 in Campi Flegrei, on the outer slopes of Naples’ Astroni crater, now a WWF-managed nature reserve. Its four estates are shaped by volcanic soils, sea influence and varied hillside sites. The winery focuses on preserving Campania’s native heritage, particularly pre-phylloxera, ungrafted Falanghina and Piedirosso, farmed sustainably with respect for biodiversity and trained using Guyot systems. Site-specific vineyards include the terraced Astroni and Camaldoli holdings, as well as Vigna Imperatrice and Tenuta Jossa. Winemaking is led by oenologist Gerardo Vernazzaro, with the wines expressing the mineral, savory character of the Phlegraean volcanic landscape. Tours, tastings and educational activities further connect the wines with the area’s history, nature and traditions.
