Canalicchio di Sopra

Italy

Canalicchio di Sopra is a family-run Montalcino estate founded in 1962 by Primo Pacenti and now led by the third-generation Ripaccioli family, with Francesco Ripaccioli as principal winemaker. Working exclusively with Sangiovese in the Canalicchio and Montosoli crus, the estate focuses on expressing the identity of its individual vineyards rather than homogenizing style. Its wines are shaped around elegance, balancing power with minerality, sapidity, acidity, and purity of fruit. The producer describes its philosophy as rooted in passion for Brunello, respect for territory, and an increasing commitment to environmental stewardship, including a sustainable cellar project and notes of organic certification in progress.
