Founded in 2007, El Grillo y la Luna is a family-owned winery in Barbastro, at the heart of Aragón’s Somontano D.O. Working 53 hectares, the estate emphasizes vineyard-led, patient winemaking: harvest dates are decided by tasting grapes in the field, and the entire crop is hand-harvested and double-selected. Green pruning, manual thinning and leaf removal, low yields, and horse-drawn ploughing reflect a careful approach to farming, without formal certifications noted. Traditional methods are combined with modern techniques, including fermentation in French oak foudres and extended barrel ageing. The wines aim to express the character of each variety, parcel and vintage, with a style described as fresh, balanced, full-bodied and expressive. Its range includes 12 Lunas, Grillo, Hop Hop and Canto del Grillo, alongside limited family-reserve bottlings.
