Seyssel follows the Rhône with distinctive Altesse whites, Molette-labelled wines and a traditional sparkling-wine identity.
Orchard fruit, flowers and gentle honeyed notes with a fresh, dry palate.
Citrus, flowers and light tropical notes with a fresh, dry finish.
Molette and Altesse form the sparkling blend, with Chasselas a permitted partner.
Apple, citrus and floral notes with lively bubbles and gentle toasted detail; sweetness varies.
Seyssel is a separate appellation from Savoie. Its still white is made from Altesse unless the wine carries the Molette grape indication. Sparkling Seyssel combines Molette and Altesse, with Chasselas also permitted. Those wine types offer different expressions of the same river-side vineyard landscape. Read the complete wine type and grape wording rather than expecting every Seyssel to be sparkling or every still white to use the same grape.
