Metsovo offers a mountain-wine perspective on Greece, with Cabernet Sauvignon among its distinctive discoveries.
Dark berries, herbs and firm tannins, with freshness and oak influence varying by wine.
Metsovo PGI identifies a mountain origin within the wider Ioannina landscape. Local estates have a long connection with Cabernet Sauvignon, while other grapes add variety. The highland setting differs from lower Epirus vineyards. A Metsovo winery can also make wines from other origins, so read the bottle’s geographical indication rather than relying on its producer’s address.
