Rheingau’s VDP estates offer a focused route into Riesling, named vineyards and the growers’ own classification of origin.
Citrus, peach and floral notes with a dry palate and fresh acidity.
Ripe orchard fruit, citrus and floral notes with sweetness balanced by bright acidity.
VDP is a growers’ association with its own origin hierarchy, not a separate legal appellation called Rheingau VDP. Its regional organisation also includes Hessische Bergstrasse, which remains a different German wine-growing region. Within the Rheingau, member estates make wines ranging from dry Riesling to sweet expressions. VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS identifies dry wines from classified top sites; the vineyard classification can also accompany sweet wines under other labelling. Follow the actual regional origin and sweetness alongside the association’s marks.
