Assyrtiko
Drama offers expressive white blends and structured reds from northeastern Macedonia’s inland vineyards.
Sauvignon Blanc, Assyrtiko.
Aromatic citrus and white fruit with a fresh, structured palate.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah.
Dark fruit and spice, with tannic weight and oak influence varying by producer.
PGI Drama supports Greek and international varieties in a warmer inland setting north of Kavala. Sauvignon Blanc with Assyrtiko is a particularly useful white-wine starting point; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah add red alternatives. The district also contains smaller protected names, so read the complete origin on the bottle. A winery’s location alone does not establish its grapes’ origin.
