Canberra District brings fragrant Riesling and spicy Shiraz to a wine region shared by New South Wales and the ACT.
Citrus-led freshness in dry or sweeter expressions, with toasty development possible in bottle.
Syrah.
Spice, dark cherry and liquorice-like detail.
The registered region crosses the territory boundary, with most vineyards on the New South Wales side. Warm, dry summer days and cold nights give a continental rhythm, while autumn conditions can bring rain near harvest. Riesling ranges from crisp, dry examples to sweeter expressions, and Shiraz offers a fragrant, spicy counterpart. The district is one origin across both jurisdictions; it is distinct from neighbouring Hilltops and Tumbarumba.
