Baga
Bairrada offers a memorable trio of Baga reds, fresh whites and traditional-method sparkling wines.
Red and dark berries with lively acidity and firm tannins; time can add savoury complexity.
Bical, Cercial, Fernão Pires.
Citrus and orchard fruit with freshness and a potentially textured finish.
Bical, Cercial, Fernão Pires.
Fresh white fruit and citrus; bottle ageing may add bread and nut notes.
Bairrada DOC belongs to an Atlantic-influenced landscape with varied clay, limestone and sandy settings. Baga is central to its red identity, while Bical, Cercial and Maria Gomes contribute to the white-wine story. Sparkling wines are a major local tradition. Bairrada DOC differs from the wider Beira Atlântico PGI, even when a producer makes both.
