Costers del Segre opens a varied inland Catalan wine trail, from warm plains near Lleida to cooler vineyard districts closer to the Pyrenees.
Citrus, orchard fruit and peach with fresh acidity and texture shaped by the producer.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot.
Blackcurrant, plum and herbs with a dry palate and firm, rounded tannins.
Costers del Segre DO brings together distinct inland areas rather than a single valley with uniform conditions. Its history combines local varieties with early regional adoption of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Warm days, cooler nights and differences in elevation give producers several stylistic directions. Chardonnay offers an accessible white introduction, while Cabernet-led reds reveal a more structured side. The vineyard district and grape add valuable detail to the broad denomination on the label.
