Beira Interior pairs high inland vineyards with distinctive Portuguese grapes such as Síria, Fonte Cal and Rufete.
Expressive citrus and white fruit with fresh acidity.
Delicate red berries, fresh acidity and a lighter, savoury tannic frame.
Orchard fruit with a more structured white-wine texture.
Beira Interior DOC brings together three subregions with different mountain and valley settings. Síria and Fonte Cal are rewarding white discoveries, while Rufete and other local red grapes add a contrasting trail. The origin is distinct from the wider Terras da Beira PGI. Altitude and seasonal temperature contrasts help explain the wines, but producer and vineyard remain important.
