About Hawke's Bay

Hawke’s Bay wines bring together New Zealand Chardonnay, fragrant Syrah and expressive red blends in a wonderfully varied North Island landscape. River terraces and alluvial plains sit alongside sheltered valleys, coastal vineyards and hillsides, creating different growing conditions. Explore Gimblett Gravels and Bridge Pa Triangle for their distinctive vineyard settings, then follow the coast or head inland for another perspective. Chardonnay can range from bright and restrained to richer, oak-influenced expressions, while red blends often draw on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The region name is a starting point rather than a fixed recipe: vineyard, vintage and producer reveal the finer differences.
