Savoie wine country follows Alpine foothills, lakeside slopes and scattered vineyard pockets across a varied eastern French landscape. Jacquère introduces fresh whites, while Altesse gives Roussette de Savoie its more textured white-wine identity. Chasselas brings a different perspective near Lake Geneva in Crépy, now a geographical denomination within Savoie. Seyssel follows the Rhône with Altesse whites, Molette-labelled wines and sparkling blends. Mondeuse, Gamay and Pinot Noir reveal the red side of the wider region, while sparkling wines add another expression. The protected wine areas differ from modern administrative boundaries. Follow the complete appellation, any named cru and the grape to explore the contrast between lake country, sheltered slopes and mountain-facing vineyards.
