Breisgau follows the Black Forest foothills with varied Baden vineyard settings and a strong Pinot-family wine tradition.
Pinot Noir.
Red cherry, berries and earthy spice with freshness and fine tannins.
Pinot Gris.
Pear, apple and gentle spice with a fresh palate and textured finish.
The wine district called Breisgau has a more specific scope than every geographical or administrative use of that name. Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder and Weissburgunder provide clear red and white introductions. Vineyards occupy varied slopes and valleys near the Black Forest, rather than one continuous hillside with uniform soils. Read the actual wine origin, village and producer to distinguish the vineyard district from the wider regional name and to explore different cellar approaches.
