Alt Penedès is an inviting gateway to Catalan wine, with vineyard roads, Xarel·lo whites and the cellar culture of Vilafranca and Sant Sadurní.
Xarel-lo.
Citrus, apple and herbs with a fresh, dry palate and gentle texture.
Alt Penedès is a geographical and administrative area, rather than a separate wine DO. Its vineyard landscape is home to producers working under several wine identities, including Penedès DO, Cava DO and Corpinnat. Xarel·lo offers a useful still-white introduction, while sparkling wines reveal the area’s long cellar tradition. Read each bottle’s certification for its rules and origin. The district provides a travel setting for these wines without making their different labels interchangeable.
