Alvarinho
Monção e Melgaço puts Alvarinho at the heart of Portugal’s far northern wine country.
Citrus and stone fruit with aromatic depth, fresh acidity and a structured palate.
Monção e Melgaço is a subregion within Vinho Verde, not a separate DOC. Sheltered inland conditions and granitic vineyard settings support Alvarinho wines with greater breadth than the light-white stereotype suggests. Red varieties also belong to the local landscape. Compare producer and wine type: Alvarinho may be fresh and youthful, textured through lees work or developed in bottle.
