Modena IGT is a historical wine label that leads back to the province’s Lambrusco and broader wine traditions before the DOC era.
Modena and Provincia di Modena were alternative names of the same IGT. The designation was revoked in 2009 when Modena DOC was established. An older bottle can therefore carry a genuine historical origin without using today’s denomination. It should not be read as a second current appellation beside Modena DOC. Check vintage, grape and original label details to understand the wine’s place in the local story.
