Ilia offers a western Peloponnese wine journey, with local grapes, international varieties and a wider scope than its smaller origins.
Avgoustiatis.
A chance to explore a local red grape, with berry fruit and a savoury dimension; concentration and ageing vary by grower.
PGI Ilia is a district origin that sits alongside more local wine names such as Letrini and Pisatis. Growers work with both Greek and international grapes, including Avgoustiatis, Mavrodaphne and Refosco among the reds. Its broad vineyard landscape supports different styles rather than one required blend. Look for the precise origin and grape when exploring an unfamiliar bottle, and keep district wines distinct from the smaller local designations.
