About Kvareli

Where it grows

In Kvareli municipality, below the Greater Caucasus foothills on the left-bank side of the Alazani.

Kvareli is both a town and a protected wine name. The protected wine is dry red Saperavi, while cellars around the town can make many other wines from other places. It therefore differs from nearby Kindzmarauli, whose protected identity is naturally semi-sweet red. Compare the two labels to explore how origin and production choices change the experience of the same grape. A named vineyard and the producer’s ageing approach can make the geographical story more specific.
