Carignan-led red country, between the coastal plain and the rugged Corbières hills.
Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
Dark berries, dried herbs and a savoury grip. Coastal and inland sites give producers different starting points.
Fitou is a red-only appellation. Carignan and Grenache are important partners, with Syrah and Mourvèdre bringing different accents to the blends.
