About Priorat

Priorat wine country combines steep Catalan hillsides, small vineyard plots and a powerful sense of place. Garnatxa and Carinyena, known internationally as Grenache and Carignan, anchor its best-known reds, while white varieties such as Garnatxa Blanca and Macabeu offer another rewarding route into the region. Llicorella slate is an important part of the landscape, though sites and soils vary. The DOQ Priorat classification can bring the origin into closer focus through village, place and classified-vineyard wines. Priorat DOQ is distinct from neighbouring Montsant DO and does not cover the whole administrative Priorat district. Explore vineyard location and producer choices alongside the grape blend to appreciate the freshness, texture and range within these Mediterranean mountain wines.
