Chardonnay.
Citrus and stone fruit, with toast and a richer texture in barrel-aged wines.
Pinot Noir.
Red cherry, berries and subtle savoury notes, usually with fine tannins.
Riesling.
Citrus blossom, lime and crisp acidity, with sweetness varying by producer and bottling.
Elgin’s cool growing season suits Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and aromatic whites. Riesling provides a particularly interesting alternative to the more familiar Cape varieties.
