Lambrusco di Sorbara
Modena DOC offers a broad local wine identity, with Lambrusco reds and rosés alongside white wines with bubbles.
Lambrusco varieties and their proportions vary by producer and wine.
Red and dark berries with refreshing acidity and gentle bubbles; sweetness varies.
Permitted Lambrusco-family grapes vary by blend.
Red berries and floral notes with fresh bubbles; sweetness varies.
Modena or Di Modena DOC covers several wine types, rather than one Lambrusco grape. Different varieties in the Lambrusco family can contribute to reds and rosés, while whites follow other grape rules. It is distinct from the smaller Sorbara, Grasparossa and Salamino DOCs. Older bottles may also carry the former Modena or Provincia di Modena IGT, revoked when the DOC was established in 2009. Read the full designation and vintage to follow that history.
