Villamagna gives Montepulciano a tightly focused hillside address near Chieti, with substantial dry reds built around the local grape.
Dark cherry, plum and spice with a full, dry palate and persistent tannins.
Villamagna DOC draws attention to a smaller growing area within Abruzzo’s red-wine landscape. Montepulciano is its central grape, and the wines combine ripe fruit with a clear tannic structure. Riserva identifies a separate ageing category rather than a different grape. Compare these reds with the wider Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC to explore how a more specific origin and a producer’s vineyard choices shape the wine. The municipality and denomination share a name, but the protected growing area also reaches neighbouring places.
