Apalta’s sheltered hillside amphitheatre is a compelling setting for deep Carménère-led blends and individual Syrah expressions.
Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot.
Black and red berries, spice and savoury depth with a concentrated, layered palate.
Dark berries, violet and pepper with firm tannins and a savoury finish.
Apalta combines slopes and terraces with varied granitic, colluvial and alluvial vineyard soils. Its horseshoe-like hill setting creates different exposures rather than one uniform site. Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are important to renowned blends; selected hillside vineyards also explore Syrah and other Mediterranean grapes. A single-estate story is only one part of Apalta, so compare the named vineyard and blend as well as the origin.
