Montonico Bianco Passito

White

At least 85% Montonico Bianco, locally Mantonico.

Sweet wine from dried grapes.

Where it grows: Delimited communes along and inland from the Ionian coast of Reggio Calabria, including Locri and Bianco.

Locride IGT includes white, red and rosé wines, with a particular dried-grape white type also recognised. Its geographical reach is wider than the small Greco di Bianco DOC and the two names are not interchangeable. A producer’s grape and method information is especially useful. Compare a fresh still wine with a concentrated passito to explore the area’s range.
