Carménère.
Blackberries, plum, roasted pepper and spice with rounded tannins and a long, savoury finish.
Peumo’s warm, moderated vineyard setting and moisture-retentive clay-rich soils suit late-ripening Carménère in selected sites. The origin is more specific than Cachapoal or Rapel. Producers make both varietal wines and Carménère-led blends, so supporting Cabernet grapes may also appear. Ripe herbal and peppery notes are part of the grape’s expressive range, without requiring every Peumo wine to taste identical.
