About Wahluke Slope

Where it grows

In south-central Washington near Mattawa, on a slope above the Columbia River within Columbia Valley AVA.

Wahluke Slope AVA has a comparatively warm inland growing environment, with wind-blown sandy soils common across its vineyard country. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot offer useful introductions, alongside white varieties such as Chardonnay. Individual sites and harvest decisions still create differences in freshness, ripeness and texture. Read a smaller vineyard reference when available, then use the grape and cellar approach to understand the wine’s style.
