Orvieto offers a classic central Italian white-wine journey, from fresh dry blends to richer late-harvest and sweet expressions.
Grechetto and Procanico, locally associated with Trebbiano Toscano, form the core; supporting grapes vary.
Citrus, apple and light flowers with a dry palate and fresh acidity.
Grechetto and Procanico are representative partners; the named sweet-wine category and blend vary.
Ripe orchard fruit and citrus peel with sweetness balanced by freshness.
Orvieto DOC crosses a regional boundary and should not be restricted to the Umbrian town alone. Grechetto and Procanico, the local Trebbiano Toscano tradition, form the core white-grape partnership. Classico identifies a specific historical area, while wine-type and sweetness wording distinguish different expressions. Some bottles are dry and others sweeter; noble rot is relevant to particular wines rather than every Orvieto. Read the complete label and producer’s description to find the style you prefer.
