About Kakheti Plateau

Where it grows

A broad landscape reference for southern and southwestern Kakheti, distinct from the Alazani Valley’s more specific wine microzones.

Kakheti Plateau is a descriptive landscape name rather than a separately registered protected wine origin. Kakheti contains several different physical settings, including Iori country, uplands and plains; they should not be treated as one uniform vineyard area. The broad Kakheti protected origin and smaller appellations provide more precise bottle identities. Use a named village or vineyard to connect a wine to this southern landscape, where an administrative address alone gives only part of the geographical story.
